Ten Differences

I created this for a magic class I taught at a summer camp and it was a hit!  Can you find the ten differences in the picture shown?  If you'd like to share it with all your friends you can you can print the picture or save it to your computer by opening the PDF below.

Blooming Flower

Print, color, and make a paper flower bloom.

 

Open the PDF below and print out the sheet.  Color a flower, cut it out, fold the petals over the bug, and then carefully set the folded flower on a plate filled with water.  Stand back and watch the flower bloom.

Optical Illusions

Glowing Light Bulb Illusion

Stare at the light bulb below for 20 seconds without blinking and then look at a wall near you. You should see a glowing light bulb!

Math Magic

Grab a calculator and get ready to amaze yourself and your friends!  Below are a few of my favorite number tricks.  If you're really bad at math like me don't worry these tricks will make you look and feel like a genius! 

Always 2!

Try it with any number. The answer will always be 2.

 

Step 1 - Think of a number.

Step 2 - Multiply it by 3.

Step 3 - Add 6.

Step 4 - Divide by 3.

Step 5 - Subtract the original number.

Step 6 - Pause for suspense and announce that the number is 2!

Always 5!

Try it with any 3 digit number. The answer will always be 5.

 

Step 1 - Think of any 3 digit number.

Step 2 - Add 7.

Step 3 - Double the new number.

Step 4 - Subtract 4.

Step 5 - Divide by 2.

Step 6 - Subtract the original number.

Step 7 - Pause for suspense and announce that the number is 5!

 

 

 

Always 3!

Try it with any number. The answer will always be 3.

 

Step 1 - Think of a number.

Step 2 - Double it.

Step 3 - Add 9.

Step 4 - Subtract 3.

Step 5 - Divide by 2.

Step 6 - Subtract the original number. 

Step 7 - Pause for suspense and announce that the result is 3!

 

 

 

Math Magic Riddle!

Here's a stumper.

 

There is a family of four at the carnival. If each member has to shake hands with each other once, what is the total number of handshakes? Grab three friends and try it. The answer will always be 6.
